What Is An Electric Storage Heater Grant?

An electric storage heater grant is financial assistance provided by the government under the ECO4 scheme to help low-income replace their old, faulty storage heaters with new and modern electric storage heaters.

The electric storage heater grant can cover the cost of materials, labour, and other expenses related to the installation of storage heaters. Eligibility for the grant may depend on factors such as income level, property ownership, and energy efficiency of the home.

Storage heater grants have a few main objectives:

  • Affordable Warmth: it provides funding to low-income households to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce their heating costs.
  • Carbon Saving Communities Obligation: it provides funding to support the installation of energy-efficient measures in low-income communities and hard-to-treat properties.

If your property currently has either electric room heaters, panel heaters, convection heaters, or no heating they can be upgraded with a storage heater replacement grant to Dimplex high-heat retention storage heaters.

Upgrading your heaters to electric storage heaters can typically reduce your heating bill by 27%, whilst also making your home more comfortable and energy efficient.

With the new goal set for the UK to go carbon neutral by 2050, the government is keen for more property owners to take up grants such as the first-time central heating grant and storage heater grant.

Why Should I Apply For A Storage Heater Grant?

There are several benefits that come with replacing your current storage heaters through the use of a grant.

Modern heaters are more energy efficient, and environmentally friendly than older ones. Not only will they help to reduce your energy bills, but they will also add value to your property.

In most cases, the entire cost of the work is covered by the electric storage heaters grant. This includes the cost of the heaters, installation, and disposal of your old heaters.

In some circumstances, a contribution towards the cost of the electric storage heater grant might be needed. This depends on how much work is needed to replace your storage heaters, as well as how energy efficient your property is.
